Donald Ray Porter Sr., age 95, of Ft. Walton Beach FL, passed away on 3-15-2024.
Donald was born on 5-20-1928 to parents Ollie Perry and Henry Porter, in Harold Ky.
Donald served in the Air Force for 28 years, starting as a machinist, and served as a recruiter in the Ashland area in the late 60s and early 70s.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the VFW, and was honored to be a Kentucky Colonel.
He is predeceased by his sisters Opal and Genevieve, and brothers Bill and James.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 75 years, Frances Venters Porter, daughter Susan Badger (Bobby) of the Dallas TX area, and son Donald Porter Jr (Magdalene) of the Kansas City area.
Grandchildren Joss and Sean Badger of Dallas, Travis Truesdell of Kansas City, Mikaeya Kalantari of Mission Viejo CA, Sierra Porter Coen of Denver CO, and Austin Porter of Portland, OR., as well as many great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted on Mar 23 at 1 pm, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel and will be officiated by Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Interment will follow at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with military honors by Kenova American Legion Post #93. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 Noon until service time at 1:00 PM.
